Q. How do we grow a Biodesigner?

Abstract

Biodesign is an emerging field that combines science, engineering, design, and architecture to create sustainable solutions and materials. It is rooted in the belief that nature can inspire innovation and lead to a paradigm shift in how we design and produce products. Biodesign utilizes living organisms, such as mycelium, to create new materials that can help reduce plastic production and decarbonize markets. This paper examines the opportunities and challenges facing biodesign entrepreneurs, with a focus on scaling production and achieving financial viability. The paper argues that biodesign companies need to educate the market about the benefits of their products and develop circular business models to ensure long-term success.
