Mathematics in Industry Study Group South Africa 2022

The Study Group was a hybrid meeting. The meeting was run virtually from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Diane Dowejko of the Centre of Excellence in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences organised the Zoom platform. Onsite Study Groups were held at the University of the Witwatersrand and also at the University of Zululand organised by Syamala Krishnannair. Five Problems were submitted, on sugar cane processing, tourism, carbon capture, electricity generation in Lake Kivu and a drop shunting optimisation problem. There was one onsite invited guest from Spain and five online invited guests from Algeria, Australia and the United Kingdom. There were two international Industry Representatives, from Rwanda and Spain. The Study Group was preceded by a Graduate Modelling Camp.
