Abstract
The UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa, set out four key elements to measure success at UN COP26 Climate Change Conference. These four elements are that 1. the promises are kept to mobilise $100 billion in climate finance annually by 2020; 2. governments wrap up outstanding issues to fully implement the Paris Agreement; 3. countries lower emissions and raise climate ambition (mitigation, adaptation and resilience); 4. no voice should be left behind. She called 2021 the most important year since the adoption of the Paris Agreement for tackling climate change through action within this legal framework.
Accelerated action is needed under all five themes of the UK-Italy Presidency, and engagement of all stakeholders will be important. In this parallel session, we will discuss some of the relevant legal issues for the finalisation of the Paris Agreement Rulebook during the Climate Exp0.
