Abstract
Introduction: Among all cardiovascular complications in patients after cardiac surgery, new-onset postoperative atrial fibrillation is one of the most common and develops in 30-50% of cases. Methodology: Original cohort study that was carried out in a South American level IV hospital from 2015-2018. Results: the mean age in the main group was 67.00 (61.00; 72.75) years, in the control group, 62.50 (57.25; 67.00) years (r =0.22; 95% CI: 0.02-0.43; p =0.04). In our study, the risk according to the EuroSCORE II scale in patients in the control group was 0.90 (0.72; 1.77) % and 1.29 (0.81; 2.51) % in patients in the control group. In the main, group was associated with the development of AF according to the results of the correlation analysis, r = 0.28, 95%; CI 0.06—0.47; p=0.01. Conclusions: In the case of atrial fibrillation in CBAG studies are required that better characterize our Latin American populations.
