Abstract
Objective. The objective of the study was to study the relationship between the AR gene polymorphism and parameters of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, as well as endothelial function in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a South American cohort. Materials and methods. All patients underwent a study of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, a study of the vasomotor function of the endothelium using ultrasound of the brachial artery and the biochemical markers of endothelial dysfunction ICAM-1, VCAM-1, p-selectin, e- selectin. Results. The number of CAG repeats had a significant positive regression with the level of total testosterone, a weak negative regression of the number of CAG repeats of the AR gene are indicators of lipid metabolism: triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, atherogenic index. Conclusion. Therefore, the number of CAG repeats of the AR receptor gene can be considered as a predictor of the development and progression of cardiovascular lesions in DM2.
