Abstract
Objective. The aim of the study is carrying out a comparative analysis of the expression of RFs and their receptors in non-healing chronic ulcer defects of different duration in diabetic foot syndrome in a South American cohort. Methods. Immunohistochemical analysis of biopsy samples was performed using antibodies against the following risk factors and their receptors: vascular endothelial factor (VEGF), insulin-like factor (IGF), epidermal factor (EGF). Depending on the duration of the wound, the biopsies were divided into 3 groups. Results. In wound samples whose duration did not exceed 90 days, the expression of FCs and their receptors was significantly higher than in wounds of longer duration (p = 0.0001). There were no significant differences in the quantitative indicators of the expression of FCs and their receptors between wounds that lasted from 91 to 365 days and more than 365 days. Conclusion. In ulcerative defects in the neuropathic form of diabetic foot syndrome that last ≤90 days, the expression of factors such as VEGF, IGF, EGF and their receptors is statistically significantly higher than in wounds of longer duration.
