Abstract
Purpose: This paper explores the perceptions of teleworking among employees in Saudi Arabia, considering both teleworkers and non-teleworkers.
Methodology: The research is based on a questionnaire survey conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data collected from teleworkers and non-teleworkers were analyzed using thematic template analysis tool Hotjar. The findings indicate that teleworking offers several advantages, including improved work-life balance, increased flexibility, and the ability to meet personal needs and goals. However, challenges such as limited face-to-face interaction, reduced social and professional communication with colleagues, and the need for proper digital tools and training were also identified.
Findings: The study highlights the importance of understanding employees' perceptions towards teleworking. The results suggest that teleworking is likely to continue and grow even after the pandemic, with a hybrid approach combining teleworking and office work being recommended. Conclusion: Teleworking brings important benefits but also significant challenges that affect productivity and well-being. The study suggests that a hybrid work model and stronger IT support can better balance these effects.
