Abstract
National energy planning depends on transparent, well-documented input data, yet in many developing countries such information remains fragmented across institutional reports, regulatory filings, and grey literature, and is rarely released in structured digital form. This article documents an open techno-economic dataset assembled to populate a whole-energy-system optimization model of Pakistan. The dataset covers the full energy chain: primary resource extraction, fuel imports, fuel conversion, transmission and distribution, and end-use service demands in industry, residential, transport, and agriculture. For each technology it reports investment, fixed, and variable costs over 2024-2050, operational lifetimes, conversion efficiencies, IPCC-consistent emission factors, and national resource reserves and potentials. Values were compiled from Pakistani institutional sources, international agency outlooks, and the peer-reviewed literature, and all processing steps, unit conventions, and assumptions are described so that individual parameters can be traced to their origins, updated, or adapted. Because most parameters are technology-specific rather than location-specific, the dataset can be transferred with limited adjustment to studies of other developing economies. The data support reproducible and auditable energy-transition analysis consistent with the U4RIA goals for energy planning analytics.
