Abstract
With the rapid advancement of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) infiltrates various
industries at an unprecedented pace, and the field of news production is no exception. Artificial
intelligence. In recent years, AI technology has made significant leaps, drawing attention to its
applications in news production. It is true that artificial intelligence is being used in news
production to increase efficiency and productivity, however unprecedented use of AI tools in
news production and journalism also has its negative effects.
Widespread use of AI raises critical issues related to news authenticity and ethical standards.
The proliferation of AI-generated content creates dilemmas regarding authenticity, deepfake
detection, and newsroom accountability.
This study examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has impacted the production and
authenticity of news and how tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Sora AI etc have made it easier to
create and spread fake news, spread unverified claims that may lead to spread of misinformation
among the general public.
For research, this paper has included numerous literature on various topics of artificial
intelligence in journalism and news production. This paper uses a mix method approach of both
primary and secondary data. This paper includes various research papers conducted on similar
themes in order to solidify the study.
This study argues that maintaining human editorial oversight is crucial in overcoming the
epistemological risks posed by automated journalism
